Getting Here

Our tour is located out of our home in Seward, Alaska.

Our address is 31722 Herman Leirer Road Seward, AK 99664. If you do not have a vehicle, we provide complimentary shuttle service.

Length

This excursion lasts approximately 90 minutes. We ask you to arrive no more than 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled departure as this tour departs from our home. Tours can sometimes go long. We advised blocking off 90 minutes. Please let your guide know if you need to be somewhere after the tour.

Price

$79 per adult. $39 per child. Children under 2 are complimentary but must ride on the lap of an adult. 3% Kenai Peninsula Borough Sales tax is not included in this price.

What to Wear

We recommend wearing pants and close-toed shoes or boots. A raincoat is a nice piece of gear to have when petting dirty dogs even if it isn’t raining. We don’t recommend wearing anything you don’t want to get a little dirty.

Booking Tips

We recommend the 9 am departure as it is the coolest departure of the day. Our dogs prefer running in colder temperatures. Afternoon departures may open up if the weather allows. Our tours are kept small to maximize your time with the dogs.

Weather Policy

Our dogs prefer running in the rain. Although not our favorite weather, the dogs love the cooler temperature the rainy days allow. We do not cancel for rain unless there is a flood hazard. We do, however, occasionally cancel if it is too hot. We have canceled due to wildfire smoke or excessive winds in the past as we run through an old-growth forest.

Cancellation Policy

We ask that all cancellations be made at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your scheduled departure will be fully charged.

Why Choose Turning Heads Kennel?

Other summer mushing outfits may take trails that are longer, but no one has trails that are more exciting than we do! Our summer tour is a training exercise which means you will get to see our dogs in action. We are not going out on a lollipop loop. The trail we are taking requires our dogs to constantly listen to our vocal commands making our tour a training exercise and not a walk around a track. This is unlike any other dog mushing tour out there. During a mile and a half long tour, watch our dogs take up to eighteen commands.

We pride ourselves on our high-quality hands-on tours that focus on providing one-on-one experiences. We are a small family-owned operation that maintains minimal staff. Over 90% of our tours are performed by our kennel owners. We emphasize great customer service and great dog care. Our dog care has also been publically recognized by several racing organizations.
