A guides primary responsibility is to entertain guests and to ensure the well being of our dogs at all times. Guides need to be upbeat and have exceptional people skills as well as dog team management skills.
Mushing Guide Responsibilities:
- Ensure That Equipment Is Sound Before Each and Every Tour
- Provide Quality, Timely Tours To Guests
- Run Guests Approximately 2 Miles By Dog Team
- Answer, To The Best Of Your Ability, Guest Questions About Dog Sledding, Dog Care, and Iditarod
- Present Dog Sledding In A Positive Light
- Assist Camp Manager when not running tours

Physical Requirement for Being A Dog Sledding Guide
Living in a remote camp with sled dogs requires extreme physical fitness. The ability to lift 50lbs bags of dog food as well as full 5-gallon buckets of water or kibble are essential to being able to run camp effectively. Working in tourism can make for long, tough days. Guides should be prepared to work in various weather conditions and should have suitable gear to withstand the elements.
