Summer Dog Sledding & Gold Panning Combo
Experience two iconic parts of Alaska in one unforgettable adventure:
Sled Dogs & Gold Panning
We’ve partnered with our neighbors at Adventure Sixty North to create a family-friendly experience that combines the excitement of dog mushing with the history and hands-on fun of gold panning.
Your adventure begins at Turning Heads Kennel, home to an active Iditarod racing kennel operated by longtime mushers and professional dog handlers. Climb aboard a custom dog cart and head out on a 20-minute ride through scenic forest trails powered by a team of enthusiastic Alaskan huskies. After the ride, spend time at the kennel meeting the dogs, cuddling puppies, and learning what life is really like inside a working sled dog kennel.
This isn’t just a demonstration. It’s a chance to step into a lifestyle deeply connected to Alaska’s history, endurance, and culture. Along the way, you’ll hear stories about the Iditarod, racing strategy, training, and the unique bond between mushers and their dogs.
After your kennel experience, continue the adventure with a guided gold panning activity at Adventure Sixty North’s nearby mining site along Clear Creek. Their team will walk you through the panning process while sharing the fascinating history of Alaska’s gold rush era. Every guest receives paydirt containing real gold flakes and semi-precious stones, giving everyone the chance to uncover their own Alaskan treasure to take home.
